Somatic Myofascial Yin

Embody. Release. Reconnect.

When: Tuesday 7:30-8:45 PM

Where: Watson House Studio & Online/Zoom.

Somatic Myofascial Yin session is a deeply restorative, slow-paced practice designed to release physical tension and reset the nervous system. By combining the quiet, long-held postures of Yin Yoga with targeted self-myofascial release (SMR) and somatic body awareness, this practice works directly with the body's connective tissue (fascia) to restore mobility and relieve chronic pain.

What to Expect

  • Targeted Fascial Release: Using props like therapy balls, foam rollers, or blocks, you will apply gentle, sustained pressure to specific trigger points (nodes of tension) throughout the body to break up adhesions and hydrate the fascial network.

  • Passive, Long-Held Holds: Postures are held passively for 3 to 5 minutes, allowing muscles to relax completely so the stress can safely migrate into the deeper, less flexible tissues—like ligaments, joints, and deep fascia.

  • Somatic Sensing & Breathwork: Rather than focusing on "stretching" or achieving a specific shape, the practice encourages internal tracking (interoception). You will use functional breathwork and subtle micro-movements to listen to your body's feedback, helping your brain down-regulate stress signals.

Key Benefits

BenefitHow It Works
Pain & Tension ReliefUnbinds tight, overworked connective tissue in high-stress areas like the hips, lower back, shoulders, and neck.
Nervous System ResetShifts your state from "fight-or-flight" (sympathetic) to "rest-and-digest" (parasympathetic), promoting deep relaxation and better sleep.
Enhanced MobilityRestores sliding capacity between fascial layers, increasing joint range of motion without forcing or straining muscles.
Somatic AwarenessDevelops a clearer mind-body connection, making it easier to recognize and release stress before it turns into physical pain.
