When: Tuesday 7:30-8:45 PM
Where: Watson House Studio, Morpeth & Online via Zoom.
Somatic Yin is a slow, meditative practice that blends traditional Yin Yoga with somatic movement, mindful awareness, and intuitive exploration.
Unlike conventional yoga classes that focus on precise alignment, Somatic Yin invites you to feel your way into postures from the inside out. Long-held floor poses target the deeper connective tissues—fascia, ligaments, and joints—while organic micro-movements, breathwork, and self-touch help release deeply stored physical and emotional tension.
What to Expect
Long, Supported Holds: Poses are held for up to 3–5 minutes using props like bolsters, blankets, and blocks, allowing the body to settle into stillness without force.
Somatic Exploration: You are guided to listen to your body’s subtle cues, using gentle, intuitive wiggles, shifts, or gentle rocking within a posture to explore sensation.
Nervous System Reset: Slow pacing and deep diaphragmatic breathing activate the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting you out of "fight-or-flight" and into a state of deep rest and repair.
Internal Inquiry: The practice emphasizes non-judgmental awareness, offering space to process emotions, quiet a busy mind, and reconnect with your inner landscape.
Who It Is For
This session is suitable for all experience levels, including complete beginners. It is particularly beneficial for anyone managing stress, chronic fatigue, stiffness, or seeking a quiet, grounding space to slow down and reconnect with their physical body.
What to Bring
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that keeps you warm, as body temperature naturally drops during quiet practices. Bring a water bottle and, if you prefer using your own, a yoga mat. All other props are provided.
